Programme
As part of its actions to support the arts sector and the professionalization of its actors, to support the creation and exhibition of works of art, the development of live performances, and the training of Polynesian artists, the Ministry of Culture of French Polynesia has joined forces with the Cité internationale des arts for a residency programme.
Intended for artists from French Polynesia and conceived with the help of the High Commission of the Republic in French Polynesia and the Air Tahiti Nui company, this programme offers five three-month residencies at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris.

As part of its efforts to support the arts sector and its actors’ support, the Government of French Polynesia intends to implement a genuine cultural strategy based on the recognition of the existence of a “Polynesian cultural personality”, particularly through its artistic expressions. To this end, support for the creation and exhibition of artworks, the development of live performances and the professional education of Polynesian artists are a priority, with the aim of organising cultural and artistic development, both in French Polynesia and abroad, around and for the established Polynesian arts and culture.
Both a service of the High Commission and a decentralized department of the Ministry of Culture, the Mission aux affaires culturelles (MAC) was created in 2018, following the signing of the Elysée Agreement for the development of French Polynesia.
Placed under the authority of the High Commissioner of the Republic in French Polynesia, the MAC supports the protection and enhancement of tangible and intangible heritage; the development and teaching of vernacular languages; the promotion of artistic and cultural education and the transmission of knowledge; artistic creation and dissemination and the circulation of works; and the development of cultural facilities in French Polynesia. It is also responsible for programming and managing decentralized credits from the Ministry of Culture.
