Open Studios | Les Rencontres de Montmartre

For this latest edition of the Open Studios | Les Rencontres de Montmartre at its Montmartre site, the Cité internationale des arts invites you to meet the artists-in-residence and discover their work. Over three days, the public is invited to discover the work of some thirty artists from diverse backgrounds and with varied practices, who are hosted for residencies lasting from two months to a year, through studio visits, readings, screenings, performances, and concerts.

Freeing the Voices

When words and sounds can sometimes become instruments of manipulation and domination, the artists seek to restore voices to those from whom they have been stolen. In societies marked by the rise of populisms, the expansion of artificial intelligence, and the multiplication of conflicts on a global scale, the voice is far from free; yet the works presented here share a common horizon: its emancipation, both individual and collective.

Emersions: A Living Archive is a long-term project that reveals the unique history of the Cité internationale des arts, a singular place of residence and artistic creation. It is based on the activation of archives - old and contemporary - to bring out a living memory that is constantly evolving.

Working at the intersection of archaeology, architecture and history, the artist creates site-specific installations that bring out the symbolic and physical qualities of salvaged or discarded materials, revealing the hidden connections between place and collective memory.
