Every year, the Province of Carinthia x Cité internationale des arts programme enables 2 artists from or working in Carinthia to take up residencies at the Cité for 6 months. Open to all disciplines, it is aimed at both emerging and established artists.

The main tasks of the Department of Arts and Culture of the Province of Carinthia (Austria) are to provide financial support for artistic projects and to award grants to local artists. The province has supported many internationally renowned artists such as Peter Handke, Maria Lassnig and Hubert Sauper.
