The programme
The Ville de Paris x Cité internationale des arts scheme is based on the principle of reciprocity and comprises a number of residency programmes set up with other organisations (ICORN – International Cities of Refuge Network, Yishu 8) or municipalities (Berlin, Budapest, Madrid). The City of Paris is building a cultural policy open to a diversity of aesthetics and forms, led by the Direction des Affaires Culturelles (DAC). Its aim is to preserve and promote the city’s tangible and intangible heritage, support the creation and dissemination of the arts, and give as many people as possible access to cultural offers and practices. The DAC manages a range of facilities that includes 68 libraries, 17 conservatories, 85 plastic arts workshops and more. It is also providing financial oversight for the Théâtre du Châtelet, the Théâtre de la Ville, the CENTQUATRE, the Gaîté Lyrique and the Maison Européenne de la Photographie.
