Residency programme for artists members of the Alfred School of Arts & Design

The programme

As part of the Alfred University x Cité internationale des arts programme, 2 artists are selected each year to take up residencies at the Cité for 6 months. Members of the Alfred School of Art & Design (graduating students, alumni, professors and former professors) whose practices are in the fields of painting, sculpture, glass art, digital arts, printmaking, textile art, art history or curating are eligible.

Alfred University was founded in 1936 on the principles of social justice and education for all. It is the second oldest coeducational institution of higher learning in the United States and one of the first institutions in the 19th century to admit African-American and Native American students. Throughout its history, the university’s mission has been to educate students to be socially conscious and capable of taking action in their professions and communities.
