Each year, the Canton of Berne x Cité internationale des arts programme offers two resident artists from the canton of Berne a 6-month residency at the Cité. It is aimed at professional artists from all disciplines, with the exception of film-makers.

The Canton of Berne is implementing specific measures to provide the various players in the cultural sector with the support they need. The Department of Culture and Education of the Canton of Berne is responsible for strengthening cultural institutions and supporting them in carrying out projects, promoting cultural mediation and supporting artists in their careers. It also focuses on aspects of the canton’s cultural policy by awarding grants on specific themes.
