Passing of Frédéric Nauczyciel

The entire team at the Cité internationale des arts was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Frédéric Nauczyciel, a French artist whose collaborative work — ranging from performances to photography and film — unfolded between France and the United States.

An associate artist at the Cité internationale des arts from 2017 to 2021, Frédéric supported the Cité (and its artists in residence) in its refoundation and definition as a safe place, extending his reflections on intimate and political spaces.

In 2023, Frédéric Nauczyciel spent three months in residence in Polynesia, exploring the links between performative practices, decolonial questioning, and Polynesian artistic scenes.
