Atlasarts is a research and creative residency programme for Moroccan artists, designed to encourage and facilitate their mobility and to expand their professional and artistic networks internationally.

The residencies last for three months, starting in January 2027. During each residency, successful laureates will benefit from:

Support, opportunities for meetings, and artistic and professional networking;
A furnished live-in-studio on the Marais site of the Cité internationale des arts;
A living allowance of €1,000 net of tax per month, paid throughout the duration of the residency;
Access to the community life of the Cité internationale des arts’ residents;

Please note that laureates undertake to comply with the conditions set out in the Cité internationale des arts’ internal regulations.

Following the call for applications, eight laureates will be selected for residencies in 2027.

Eligibility criteria

The programme is open to any artist of Moroccan nationality, with no age limit, who meets the following criteria:

Have been pursuing a professional artistic practice for at least three years or hold a qualification from an educational institution in an artistic field;
Be an artist working in one of the following fields: visual arts, digital arts, film, the performing arts (music, performance, playwriting, directing, dance and choreography), or writing;
Be able to take time off from any professional activity for the entire duration of the residency;
Have a basic knowledge of French and/or a sufficient command of English to facilitate integration into life at the Cité internationale des arts and exchanges with other residents.

How to Apply?

Complete applications must be submitted, before the closing date indicated above, to the following address: citedesarts@minculture.gov.ma

The list of successful candidates will be published on the website of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, on the website of the Institut Français du Maroc and on the website of the Cité Internationale des arts.

The application pack, to be submitted in French, must include:

A detailed curriculum vitae (maximum 4 pages);
An artistic portfolio comprising images of works with full captions (maximum 15 pages), including, where applicable, video links or audio files representative of the work (mp3, mp4, avi formats);
A statement of intent (maximum 3 pages), setting out the applicant’s motivations and their interest in the residency programme. In this statement, the applicant must explain, from an artistic perspective and drawing on their career path and professional network, why their current work requires a residency in Paris and at the Cité internationale des arts;
Administrative documents: a copy of the national identity card, a copy of the passport, and a copy of the artist’s card (optional).

Terms and conditions of the residency

The laureates will be accommodated in live-in studios located on the Marais site of the Cité internationale des arts. With a surface area ranging from 20 to 35 m², the live-in studios are designed to combine creative work and daily life. They consist of a workroom, kitchen, bathroom, and sleeping area. A live-in-studio can accommodate up to two adults and one child up to 10 years old. Additional fees will be charged for accompanying persons.

Unfortunately, the proposed live-in studios do not meet current accessibility standards for people with disabilities, but efforts are being made to address this for the future.
