Presentation
The National Gallery of Kosovo and the Cité internationale des arts (Paris) are pleased to announce the launch of Shtëpi, a new residency programme for artists of visual artists living and working in Kosovo. This programme aims to foster international mobility, broaden professional and artistic networks, and strengthen artistic practices through dedicated support in research, production, and visibility.
Three artists will be selected through an open call and reviewed by a jury composed of professionals from the fields of contemporary art and culture. The laureates will first present their work in a group exhibition at NGK–QAFA (December 2025 – February 2026), followed by a fully funded three-month residency in Paris in late 2026, including tailored professional support and networking opportunities with artists and art professionals based in France.

The residency
The programme at NGK (Kosovo)
The three selected artists will participate in a group exhibition at the National Gallery of Kosovo – QAFA, opening on December 11, 2025, and running through February 9, 2026.
Following the exhibition, the selected artists will take part in a residency at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris in 2026, as detailed in the information above.
For their exhibition at NGK QAFA, each artist will receive:
• An artist’s fee
• A production budget (determined in accordance with the proposed work)
• Logistical and curatorial support from the NGK team
The programme at Cité internationale des arts (Paris)
The residency will take place from March 3 to May 28, 2026.
Each selected artist will benefit from:
• Professional support, networking opportunities, and events organized by the program’s partners;
• A live-in studio at the Cité internationale des arts in the Marais district, which consists of a single furnished space for both living and working;
• A monthly living stipend to cover living costs;
• Coverage of international round-trip travel to and from Paris airports, as well as travel insurance.
Transport of artworks or materials is not covered.
A final report will be required at the end of the residency.
Three artists will be selected.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria
Applicants must meet the following criteria :
• Be of Kosovar nationality, living and working in Kosovo;
• Have an active artistic practice in the fields of visual arts;
• Have at least three years of professional practice;
• Be able to communicate effectively in English or French.
There is no age limit.
Artists who have previously benefited from a residency at the Cité internationale des arts are not eligible.
Applications from duos or collectives are accepted, but only one residency grant will be awarded per application: one studio, one stipend, and one travel allowance for a single representative.
Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of representatives from the National Gallery of Kosovo, the Cité internationale des arts, and invited experts.
In addition to evaluating each applicant’s background, particular attention will be given to:
• The quality and originality of the artistic practice and proposed project;
• The relevance of the residency in Paris for the development of the project;
• The methodology and working approach proposed;
• Any existing or potential professional connections with the Paris art scene.
The jury will aim for a balanced selection, reflecting diversity in practices, backgrounds, and perspectives.

Residency Conditions
The laureates will be accommodated in live-in-studios located on the Marais site of the Cité internationale des arts. With a surface area ranging from 25 to 40m², the live-in-studios are designed to combine creative work and daily life. They consist of a workroom, kitchen, bathroom, and sleeping area. A live-in-studio can accommodate up to two adults and one child up to 10 years old. Additional fees will be charged for accompanying persons.
Unfortunately, the proposed live-in-studios do not meet current accessibility standards for people with disabilities, but efforts are being made to address this for the future.
