Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Architecture and design

Gabriela works with architecture at different levels. She graduated in architecture and since 2021 she has been part of the studio PLURAL, which is based in Bratislava. Within the framework of the initiative Project Bratislava, she co-leads the design studio at the Faculty of Architecture of the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava since 2023. In addition, she is a co-editor-in-chief of the online magazine for architecture and design MAG D A mag and also a technical editor of the scientific journal Architektúra & Urbanizmus.

In recent years she has also participated in exhibitions, either as a curator or designer. Her own curatorial projects, which she developed in collaboration with a group of artists/friends, were mainly based on exploring the ways in which a group of people could work together on a common project, testing the possibility of relating to place and to each other.

Apart from the editorial, practicing or exhibition level, she is also engaged in architecture as a doctoral student at the Historical Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in the Department of Architecture. She is carrying out monographic research of the artistic and architectural group VAL which produced during the 70s and 80s several visionary projects. During her residency she would focus on the importance of French cultural influence on the territory of Czechoslovakia during the second half of the 20th century, expressed through the influence on VAL, or more specifically, through researching the similarities or differences in portraying / thinking about the future.
