Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Value and the absence of value are concepts that Johanna Törnqvist addresses in different ways in her art. By working with materials that have no value, she reverses the question of the value we give to the materials of our time.
What is valuable and what is not? How do we view our assets and resources? What materials will be the new raw materials of the future? And where is the value found, in the material or in the work of the hand?
With thread and needle, she transforms and refines waste beyond recognition, creating ornaments for the body and space.
