Artists in residence
Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Béliza Troupé

Born in Guadeloupe and based between Guadeloupe and Paris, Béliza Troupé is a visual artist. After completing a Master’s degree in Visual Arts Research at the University of Bordeaux 3 in 2012, she has been using drawing and embroidery to explore the body. The human condition, intimacy and femininity are her recurring themes. Drawing, watercolour, thread-based works and ceramics are the techniques she employs to explore these themes. In Béliza’s work, the softness of the media and the directness of the subject intertwine. Cotton fabric and organic fabric merge. Stitches of embroidery and sutures interweave. Bodies take shape. She took up residence at Bandjoun Station (2019), Caribbean Linked VII in Aruba (2022) and exhibits at various fairs, including the AKAA Fair Paris organised by ARTCO Gallery (2024), as well as in group exhibitions at the Cécile Fakhoury Gallery in Abidjan (2022), FAC Guadeloupe (2025) and a solo ‘carte blanche’ exhibition at Musarth Guadeloupe (2024).
