Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Visual arts

Moana Van Der Maesen is a Franco-Tahitian painter who grew up on the island of Tahaa in French Polynesia, a paradise known as the “Vanilla Island.”

After a career in the private sector, Moana chose to follow a passion for nature and environmental conservation. In 2019, during a world tour exploring innovations in environmental protection, painting emerged as a new form of expression and a way to channel this mission. Deeply transformed by this journey, Moana has dedicated themselves fully to painting since 2021.

Self-taught, Moana draws inspiration from the beauty of marine life and is driven by a commitment to preserving the planet.
