Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Cinema

Persheng Vaziri is an educator, documentary filmmaker and producer, who lives in New York and Tehran. Her research, writing, and teaching are concentrated on documentary films, society, and the role of power in determining artists’ work, particularly in Iran. Her current book project regarding Iranian Documentary filmmakers’ creative process and their resistances is due for publication in 2026/2027. Her personal documentaries are about Iran and her deep relationship to the country she left as a young person, the immigrant experience in the U.S., and the discovery of her Kurdish heritage. She holds a master degree in cinema studies from New York University and a Ph.D. in Media and Communication from Temple University and has taught at Penn State University, Hofstra University, and New York University.

As a documentary producer her work has been presented on Link TV, the National Geographic’s All Roads Project, WITF public television, Independent Lens, and Deep Dish TV.  She has  presented at Museum of Modern Arts, NY, Mosaics Room, London, as well as in several universities and academic conferences. She has curated series of documentary films at Hofstra University and at Trinity College, Connecticut.
