Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Carmen Westermeier

Visual arts

Carmen Westermeier is a transdisciplinary artist and researcher. She lives and works in Stuttgart, Germany. Her work focuses primarily on feminist epistemology and pursues a body-political artistic practice. To date, her work has been guided primarily by a critical, research-based approach, which she pursues within new media, photography, video, and in the form of installations and performance art. She also works in the duo The Symbiotic Approach with Julia Hainz. Her works have been shown at CFA Berlin, Kunstpalais Erlangen, Cultural Transit in Russia, Nextex in St. Gallen, the Biennale of Young Arts in Mulhouse, France, and Hangar, Barcelona. Since 2022, she has been a research assistant at the Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart.
