Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

VISUAL ARTS
DRAWING

Nidhal Chamekh was born in 1985 in Dahmani (Tunisia) and graduated at the School of Fine Arts in Tunis and in Paris where he lives and works.

He is committed to analyze our generation with a visual, yet experimental, language. His creations present a possible interpretation of our time, in the intersection between a biographical microcosm and a political framework, between personal experience and history, between the event and the archive. From drawing to installation to photography and video, Nidhal Chamekh fragments and dissects through his works the constitution of our contemporary identity.

His artwork has been exhibited at the Venice Biennial, the Aïchi Triennale, the Yinchuan Biennial, the Dakar Biennial and has been shown in Tunis at Politics Collective exhibitions, in Paris at The Arab World Institute, Drawing Now art fair, in Italy at FM Contemporary Art Center, in London at Drawing Room, during 1:54 Art Fair and in Art Basel and the Hood Museum among others.
