Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Relja Ćupić, also known as Regis, is a music composer, producer, and performer, known for his fusion of electronic sounds, recorded vocals, and live instruments. His artistic prowess spans a diverse range of creative domains, including film, art, performance, installations, theatre, dance, and fashion.

He has shared stages and radio shows with artists such as X-Coast, MCMLXXXV, DJ Rashad, Scratch DVA, DJ Lag, and Marfox, as well as Battle Ax, Alex Gvojic, and Susin Jane. His roles as a contemporary composer, music producer, sound designer, and curator of club nights reflect a dedication to bridging contemporary music with his origins, especially as it relates to Montenegro, his place of origin.

During his exploration, he delved deeply into the sounds of his heritage, with a focused emphasis on local instruments. This exploration gave rise to the distinctive musical performance concept Karst, which delves into identities and historical events. This dynamic audiovisual and multisensory live experience embodies his journey of self-discovery and musical exploration.

Starting in September 2023, Regis pursuits a residence at the Cité Internationale des arts, actively working on a new album titled Four Nahiyahs. This forthcoming album promises to maintain his signature spirit and direction while venturing into new creative realms.
