Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Douna Lim & Théo Pesso

Year/s of residence : 2020, Cité internationale des arts

Visual arts

Douna Lim and Théo Pesso (South Korea/France) work in collaboration since 2014. After their studies at the Central Saint Martins School of Arts in London where they meet, they develop together a common interest for moving-images, performance and writing.

Their project at the Cité internationale des arts is a research around the figures of disruptance taking informational-fictional currencies. They are currently writing the screenplay for a performance-video inspired from the apparatuses of documentary theatre and cinematographic re-enactments.

They are both graduated from the HEAD-Genève with a Master’s degree. They live and work between Geneva and Paris.

Architecture and design

Ophélie Dozat is an architect and doctoral student at the École Supérieure d’Architecture de Versailles and the University of Cergy-Pontoise. In 2018, she graduated from the ENSA Versailles and was simultaneously doing a research master’s degree in visual culture at the École des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales. After obtaining her habilitation in project management, in 2020, she began a doctorate in architecture under the direction of Susanne Stacher and Cédric Libert.

Entitled Support: how to rethink the architecture of the territory, her dissertation proposes to think of retaining walls as architectural objects that participate in the sensitive construction of the landscape. She thus aims to design retaining devices that reveal the natural elements and resources of the territory, reinforcing the aesthetic relationship with our natural environment. Her experimental approach allows her to explore forms and materials for these new works of art. In connection with her research, she co-directs the project workshop Paysages Prototypes, Master level 1 and 2 at ENSA Versailles with the architect Nicolas Simon.
