Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Armando Duçellari, born in 1990 in Durrës, is an Albanian artist. He gratuated with a B.A. in Multimedia Arts at the Università Iuav di Venezia, Italy, and a diploma in Fine Arts at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen, Germany, where he recently completed his studies as a Meisterschüler.

His artistic practice is based on the encounter between art and public space. Since monotony and repetition construct the everyday life, there is a presumed equality and simultaneous difference in the repetition of every action, no moment is equal. Living in different countries and a daily life in different places leads him to deal with a variety of themes.

Thereby he focuses particularly in the contrast of the viewer’s reaction in the context of art and during the production of an artwork in public space. It is this moment that illustrates the different evaluation of an action in art and in the public sphere, as well as it illustrates the discrepancy between the viewer and the creator of an artwork, which drives the interaction.
