fantastic little splash is a collective comprised of journalist/artist Lera Malchenko and artist/director Oleksandr Hants. The collective combines art practice and media studies, focusing on utopias, dystopia, the collective imagination and its incarnations, projections, delusions, and uncertainties. Established in 2016 in Ukraine, their projects have been exhibited at events including transmediale, post.MoMA, Plokta TV, Ars Electronica, Liste Art Fair Basel, Construction festival VI x CYNETART, KISFF, Kasseler Dokfest, and Docudays, among others. They have also participated in the transmediale x Pro Helvetia Residency 2022.

During the residency program 2-12 of the Cité internationale des arts, the collective will work on their new artistic research “Infocry”. The project explores how quantified forms of emotional states, accurately gathered and categorized for military and commercial purposes, can determine human conditions in the next loop.

Alia Farid

Year/s of residence : 2022, Art Explora

Visual arts

Alia Farid was born in Kuwait in 1985. She lives and works in Kuwait and Puerto Rico. Through fi lm and sculpture, her work gives visibility to lesser-known histories often deliberately erased. Alia Farid is represented by Galerie Imane Farès (Paris).

‍‍

During her residency, Alia Farid will pursue her work Migrations of Form. This research project is a study on a series of migrations through an examination of transplanted building types including businesses, community centers, restaurants and residential neighborhoods. This project traces the eviction of Arab, African and South Asian groups to Latin America and the Caribbean. Alia Farid’s work brings the sites in relation to each other, creating a trans-regionalism that belies national boundaries drawn on land.
