Artists in residence
Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Alejandro Garcia Contreras

Born in Mexico, Alejandro García Contreras, lives and works in Guadalajara. Alejandro García Contreras’ work is based on a complex imagery, where Chiapas artisanal production, colonial art, cartoons and pop comics, folklore, mythology and his personal history come together.
Just as the creative resources are diverse, so is the materiality of his projects, as they fuse ceramics, graphics, painting and other artistic resources. This combination of elements results in suggestive forms in which the viewer can explore the divine and the evil, the magical, the erotic, the feminine and various taboo dimensions from his orher own unconscious, thus discovering a new sense of divinity through contemporary idols. Recent exhibitions include: Swievel Gallery (USA, 2023), Judd Foundation, (USA, 2023), House of Gaga (Mexico, 2023), Travesia Cuatro Gallery (Mexico, 2023), Friedman Benda (USA, 2022).

Omar Fidel García (born in 1993) is an artist whose work engages in a profound material investigation. His work oscillates between the symbolic and the literal, blending and erasing boundaries between space, the poetic, and the autobiographical. He explores the possibilities offered by material selection to cultivate his own artistic language.
Self-taught, he meditates on sculpture, experimental installation, and private performances. Holding a Master’s degree in sculpture from the Yale School of Art, he currently works between New York and Mexico City (Mexico).

Architecture and design
Albert García-Alzórriz is a Spanish architect and audiovisual artist based in Barcelona.
His work has been exhibited at international events and festivals, including the 58th Biennale Arte in Venice, the FID Marseille, the FID Buenos Aires and the Documenta Madrid, as well as at public institutions such as the IVAM (Valencia), the Hong-Gah Museum (Taipei), the Musée du Louvre (Paris) and the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (Berlin).
He has recently been in residency at Hangar (Barcelona), Casa Planas (Palma), the Württembergischer Kunstverein (Stuttgart) and the Cité internationale des arts (Paris).
