Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Visual arts

Emily Imeson is an Australian artist interested in expanding historical traditions of landscape painting to (re)focus on the co-habitation of humans within a larger field of interdependent life. As a mother and artist living on farmland, she engages with layered practices including immersive fieldwork, walking, gardening, land regeneration, painting, needlework, and cooking. Through these processes, she questions how we might reimagine our relationship with landscape in today’s climate context. By combining traditional painting methods with experimental site responsiveness, her practice explores care, affectivity, the embodied connection between humans and the natural world, alongside the landscape as a whole and the microscopic structures that compose it.
