Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Sergey Kantsedal (born 1989, Ukraine) is a curator based in Italy and artistic director of Associazione Barriera, a non-profit space in Turin. At the intersection of exhibition-making and research, Barriera fosters dialogue among artists, collectors, and cultural practitioners, encouraging exchange across disciplines. His independent curatorial practice spans contemporary art, music, and fashion, engaging with the legacies of the former Eastern Bloc and their cultural and political impact. He has collaborated with institutions in Italy and abroad, including Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo and OGR (Turin); Triennale Milano and MUDEC (Milan); Cittadellarte (Biella); MAMbo (Bologna); Salzburger Kunstverein (Salzburg); and PinchukArtCentre and the National Art Museum (Kyiv).

The residency at the Cité des internationale des arts is funded by the European Union and the Goethe-Institut.
