Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Katrin Keller’s work arises from a balancing act between restlessness and a precarious standstill — a collection of attempts to give form to different manifestations of existential instability. Starting points for Katrin Keller’s work are scientific products, sensory experiences, objects, and images that can become carriers of meaning — metaphors for uncertain manifestations and precarious stages with poetic potential. The research subject leads to a diversity of formal outcomes, including installation and sculptural elements, video, objects, drawings, photography, and combinations of these media. Her works are continuous intermediate states, snapshots of a larger body of inquiry that repeatedly engages with themes such as instability, change, control, and its loss.
