Artists in residence
Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Iris Kohlweiss is a Vienna-based visual artist whose drawings, paintings and spatial works explore how reality takes shape through perception. At the centre of her practice is the process of becoming: how form emerges, how meaning arises and how both remain open to transformation. Understanding perception as an embodied and relational process between body, space and attention, she works intuitively and without predetermined compositions, layering, mirroring and relating geometric and organic forms. Kohlweiss studied Painting at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and Textile Design at the University of Derby, UK. Her work is held in several public collections, including the Carinthian Museum of Modern Art, the Austrian Federal Artothek and the Art Collection of Lower Austria.
