Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Curating

Cassandre Langlois is an independent researcher and curator.

She is currently working on her dissertation on the relationship between the performing arts and curatorial practices, and on how the latter manage to generate “another place for art” in a para-institutional dynamic. She participated in the Institut ACTE’s research program “The Art World in the Age of Cultural Capitalism”, under the direction of Aline Caillet and Florian Gaité. In this context, she was involved in the exhibition “Couper les fluides – alternatives pragmatopiques” presented at the Maison des Arts de Malakoff (12.02 – 08.07.2023) and in the organization of the international colloquium “Épistémologies critiques du contemporain” (01 et 02.06.2023) at the Université Panthéon-Sorbonne. From January 2024, she will be a lecturer in philosophy of art at the Université Panthéon-Sorbonne.

As a curator, she develops projects at the intersection of the performing arts, discursive propositions and critical pedagogies. With Simona Dvorák, she initiated the “The Coming Community” project (2018-2021) and developed, with artist Flora Bouteille, the Together Until_ __(what)? (2020), dedicated to experimenting with devices and producing knowledge about performance and its political issues. As part of this office’s activities, she was able to conduct research (2021) and curate the exhibition “Tout dans le cabinet mental” (2022) at the Centre d’art contemporain d’Ivry – Le Crédac. In collaboration with Marianna De Marzi, she has devised “Meeting Points”, a decelerated and convivial work format whose first stage is between the Caribbean and Europe (2020-).

At the same time, she has held assistant positions at institutions such as the Centre national des arts plastiques, and collaborates with a number of organizations, including the Frac Île-de-France and the magazine Mouvement, to write texts. Since June 2023, she has been assisting choreographer and dancer Kettly Noël, in particular with the Caribbean Dance Platform.
