Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Nadine Baldow (*1990, Dresden) is a Berlin-based visual artist addressing the Anthropocene through large-scale, site-responsive sculptures. Her practice probes the friction between culture and nature, grounded in fieldwork across altered terrains—Lithuania, Ireland, Iceland, Japan (Fukushima, ‘Difficult-to-Return Zone’), and Canada (Avalon Peninsula). She studied Fine Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts Dresden and later earned the post-graduate Meisterschülerin title under Prof. Eberhard Bosslet after a woodcarving apprenticeship in the Alps. Self-experiments in landscape—shepherding a free-moving flock and living off-grid in a monk’s hut—inform her work. Exhibitions include Urban Nation Museum for Contemporary Urban Art (Berlin), Valletta Contemporary, and Haus am Lützowplatz.

“Architectural Jewelry”
What happens when a goldsmith treats a house like a piece of jewelry?
Artist, designer, educator, and lifelong maker Mark Baldridge invites you into his imaginative world of architectural jewelry, a philosophy shaped by more than six decades of working with metal, glass, wood, stone, mirrors, and crystal gemstones.
Baldridge has transformed his home and surrounding landscape into his largest and best work of art. Pools, waterfalls, stained glass, fences, glass blocks, towers, bridges, and sculptural details come together through color, movement, reflection, and water that he calls “liquid light”. Through images, Mark shares the seductive qualities of jewelry-making—sparkle, light, and color, expanded and applied to architecture.
