Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Literature

Pierrette Mondako is a Congolese poet, actress and playwright born in 1978.

In 2001, she co-founded with Célestin Kauset the troupe Emeraude Pembe where she is an actress and administrator. Initially a poet, she began writing plays with her first text L’escalier aux danses sacro-folles, written in 2002 and presented at the Mantsina Festival in 2011.

Her second play, L’envers du ciel, was published by the National Library of Congo in 2005. With her company, she participates in various festivals in Africa with texts such as Femmes crues, La double identité, Le destin de Sabi, Kilenga kia Mboula. Her play Entre deux souffles le silence, written during the writing residency at the Mantsina sur scène festival in 2019, was selected by the RFI reading cycle, Ça, ça le monde at the Avignon festival, and put on public reading at the Les Zébrures des Francophonies – Des écritures à la scène festival in Limoges in 2021.

Recipient of the Odyssée 2020 grant, she participateed in 2021 in a writing residency at the Chartreuse de Villeneuve Lez Avignon with her text project Un instant d’éclat.
