Artists in residence
Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.
Marcel Mrejen

Cinema
Marcel Mrejen (FR/DZ), born in 1994 (Paris, FR), is an artist and director exploring the articulation of technology within living and economic metabolisms. His work spans various media, including installations, moving images, sound, and machine learning.
He graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam in 2018, before becoming a resident at Le Fresnoy from 2021 to 2023. His work has been exhibited at the Stedelijk Museum, Institute of Contemporary Arts, and Eye Filmmuseum. His film Memories of an Unborn Sun won the Best Short Film Award at Visions du Réel in 2024 and has been screened at more than forty festivals and institutions around the world.
