Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Mirjam Pajakowski

Mirjam Pajakowski (*1986) lives in Germany and is a graduate of the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, where she studied in the class of stage designer Johannes Schütz. Her current work focuses on transience and the tension between beginning and end, birth and death of material and form—themes that become apparent in the various stages of development of her works. Pajakowski has presented her work in Germany and abroad, including at Kunsthalle Weishaupt, Ulm, and Kunstsammlung NRW, Düsseldorf. Internationally, she has exhibited at the Instytut Avtomatyky Kyiv (UKR) and at the China Academy of Arts Hangzhou (CN). In 2022, she received a grant from the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. Work stays have taken her to China, Mongolia, and the USA, among other places.
