Artists in residence
Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Jelisaveta Rapaić is a Serbian American cultural worker and a practicing artist, currently based in Bratislava, Slovakia. Her artistic practice covers mediums such as video, installation, performance and topics regarding learning, social contexts, work and therapy. In recent years, she has been working behind the scene in art institutions, particularly in project and production management and new education approaches.
During her residency at the Cité internationale des arts, she is particularly keen on exploring boundaries of (dis)comfort, coping mechanisms, popular trends on psychology, anxiety and power of belief channeled through early Pinterest and influencer aesthetics of home décor, motivational quotes and (toxic) positivity.
Since 2019, she has been running a makeshift pop-up hair salon where she offers hair cutting therapy sessions; the price is broken down by both parties’ willingness to submit to the needs and desires of the other. Jelisaveta Rapaić sees herself as a builder of different opportunities and spaces for interactions that might not happen otherwise.
