Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Curating

Achraf Remok is a writer and independent curator. Trained in gender studies, cultural studies and curation, he has developed a practice that questions the links between tradition and modernity through themes such as the sacred, cosmopolitanism and ethnocentrism.

He is co-curator at Le Cube – independent art room and has organised exhibitions in Morocco and abroad, in collaboration with institutions such as the Institut Français du Maroc, Contretype (Brussels), Philomena+ (Vienna), the Kalhath Foundation (India) and FRAC MÉCA (Bordeaux). Achraf Remok has supported emerging and established artists, curating notable exhibitions, including Le Corps Spirituel et l’Esprit Charnel at the Palais El Badii for the 1-54 Marrakech 2023 fair.

As a contributor to Diptyk magazine, he has edited the Incubator section, dedicated to the young art scene. He also writes critical texts on artists, as well as for institutions and collective works, contributing to the critical dialogue on art.

Invited to speak at seminars and conferences, where he shares his experience, notably at the International University of Casablanca, IIHEM and the University of Oxford, he fosters intellectual exchanges between North Africa and Europe. His current research focuses on the materiality of works and the history of female curators in Morocco, offering a fresh perspective on the evolution of curatorial practices.
