Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Curating

An anthropologist by training, Julien Ribeiro (1984) is the curator and founder of the Lavoir Public, a creative space dedicated to changing writing in Lyon, which he directed until 2016. He works on the impact of politics on our lives and on our creative processes, the place of minorities playing a central role in this research.

A founding member of the WAW collective (LGBTQI archive and contemporary art), he is associated with the programming of the exhibition David Wojnarowicz – History Keeps Me Awake at Night at the Mudam (2019) and is notably part of the monitoring committee for the exhibition Histoire et mémoires des luttes contre le VIH/sida (2021) at the Mucem in Marseille. He is currently working on les savoirs silenciés et la maladie comme partenaire (silent knowledge and illness as a partner) in the Antre-Peaux (Bourges) and more generally on new forms of knowledge transmission. He is in charge of the “AIDS and cultures” section of the magazine Remaides.

As an artist, he exhibited in 2021 at the Maison Populaire de Montreuil for the exhibition La Clinique Du Queer and at the Musée d’Art Contemporain de Lyon for the exhibition IRL é RL – Effondrement des Alpes. He is also at the origin of a collaboration between the MAC VAL – Musée d’Art Contemporain du Val-de-Marne and the association Act Up-Paris, which resulted in the creation of a collection of original T-shirts produced by 20 artists.
