Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Literature

Hélène Rosselet-Ruiz grew up in Clichy-sous-bois (93), after a BEP sale then a literary baccalaureate, she turns then to a school of theater. She was first an actress for the theater and the cinema. She developed her first self-taught writing project, a feature film that won the Plume de cristal for Best Feature Film Project at Valence Scénario in 2015.

With her sister Marie, they co-wrote Ibiza, and were winners of the Talents en court at the Comedy Club in 2016. She then attended writing workshops with the screenwriters’ association Séquences7 and joined the Equal Opportunities Workshops at the Fémis in 2016. She joined the school’s directing department in 2018, for four years.

Still in pairs, she has since co-directed several short films, Les Héritières and Ibiza (Vagabundo films, pre-purchase France 2). On her own, she has directed several commercials and commissioned documentaries (notably Sencibilités, finalist for the Scam’s best institutional film award in 2019) as well as Les Mains sales, a third-year film at the Fémis that won awards at the Brest festival as well as at Cinébanlieue. Her graduation film Pas l’coeur assez grand is starting to be broadcast and she will shoot Deux et plus, a medium-length film co-written with her sister, in August 2022 (pre-purchased by France 2).

During her residency, she will continue her writing work by developing her first feature film project. Her writing is always anchored in a strong social context, the result of her background and what animates all of her work.
