Artists in residence
Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Irys Schenker is an American artist who lives and works in Berkeley, California.
Her current series of large drawings/paintings on paper, “Les Femmes de la Rive Gauche,” are imaginative portraits of expatriate and French women artists and writers working in Paris in the early 20th Century; a feminist project of unearthing major figures of the avant-garde.
Irys Schenker graduated from the San Francisco Art Institute and received a Master of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in NYC in 1999.
