To mark Nuit Blanche 2026, the Cité internationale des arts is opening its doors until midnight!
From 6pm, Nobuko Tsuchiya, laureate of the Jean Chatelus – Fondation Antoine de Galbert x Cité internationale des arts residency programme, will present her installation Menu of the day in the Vitrine.
At 7pm, Zdenka Badovinac, co-curator of the exhibition Les Voix se lèvent, welcomes the public for a guided tour of this project, which brings together some twenty artists sharing a common ambition: to give back a voice to those from whom it has been taken away.
At 7.30 pm, in the auditorium, artist Tilhenn Klapper presents Lament, auditórium, a performance situated at the crossroads of a Breton gwerz1 and hardcore punk. She reactivates sound archives (traditional songs, gwerzioù, etc.) united by the same ritual logic: the transition from intimate pain to its public expression. Staged in the auditorium, the performance engages with the history and etymology of this space for collective listening, and sketches out a way of reclaiming an ancient practice with an essential social function: mourning songs.
The exhibition Les Voix se lèvent remains open until midnight.
1 A form of singing in the Breton language, the gwerz (gwerzioù in the plural) takes the form of a highly detailed sung narrative recounting tragic events or incidents.
