Since 1965, the Cité internationale des arts has been actively supporting artists facing exile, forced displacement, or the inability to create freely in their home countries.

This commitment to freedom of creation and expression—made possible by an exceptional network of French and international artists and partners—is at the heart of the Caméra Libre residency programme. Organized by the CNC in partnership with the Cité internationale des arts and L’usage du monde au 21e siècle, this six-month residency is intended for writer-directors whose work and safety have been endangered by persecution or censorship. On the occasion of Traversées du Marais, several films by these resident filmmakers will be screened in the auditorium of the Cité internationale des arts.
