The exhibition “TRACES 1999–2026. Artists from the Cultural Foundation of Hesse in Paris” invites former laureates of the “Cultural Foundation of Hesse x Cité internationale des arts” programme to present their works at the Goethe-Institut in Paris.

A selection of works by the artists Paula Rosolen (choreography – 2025/26), Yvonne Roeb (sculpture – 2021/22) and Helga Fanderl (film – 1999/2000) traces these artists’ careers in Paris.

The exhibition thus shines a spotlight on contemporary, interdisciplinary artists who contrast the mere representation of reality with a reflection on the construction of reality. From the conceptual to the material, densification, perception, ambiguity and questioning lie at the heart of the experience offered by each of the works in this intergenerational group exhibition.

The opening will take place on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at 7pm.
On this occasion, the artist Paula Rosolen will present her work Crash Test #5: Theater.

Crash Test #5: Theater

Paula Rosolen’s Crash Test #5: Theater explores the themes of symmetry and power dynamics, and challenges cultural hierarchies that prioritise language over bodily experience. It takes the form of an ongoing process of negotiation, in which the quest for symmetry becomes both a working method and a metaphor. As such, symmetry is fragile, ephemeral and prone to collapse.
