Residency programme Andes~Sena 2025

Presentation

For the third consecutive year, the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage of Chile, the Institut Français of Chile, and the Cité internationale des arts in Paris are launching a call for the residency program, now called Andes~Sena, aimed at artists and curators working and residing in Chile, to promote and facilitate their international mobility, as well as to expand their professional network.

This residency program is part of the promotion of creative ecosystems, with a multisectoral perspective and new technological processes. In this context, the candidate curators and artists are invited to conceive a research and/or creation project on the following theme: How does AI affect artistic creation? Cultural production and distribution models are undergoing a radical transformation with the integration of digital platforms, social networks, artificial intelligence and new technologies such as virtual and augmented reality. These new tools have given rise to creative languages that encourage intermediality in artistic production. These innovations offer opportunities to creators and companies in the cultural and creative sectors by giving them access to new markets, audiences and publics, thereby extending communication about their work on a global scale. However, these technological advances also present major challenges, such as the protection of copyright, adequate funding for technology and innovation, and the long-term sustainability of business models. Digital transformation is thus as much a source of challenges as of opportunities (UNTACD, 2024), and the cultural and creative industries are facing the issue of technological adaptation.

This theme invites the development of new forms of expression, transmission of concepts and ideas based on the heterogeneous relationship that arises from new technologies and artistic or creative expressions. This call invites us to rethink the relationship between art and technology or digital innovation in its processes.

As part of this program, two three-month residencies are offered at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris:

  • A research-creation residency for artists
  • A residency for curators

By definition, a residency can be considered as a stay in a dedicated place, related to an activity, and in a particular context: here, the Cité internationale des arts in Paris. It is a program that aims to provide a framework and human, technical, and financial resources for ongoing or to-be-developed research or creation. This residency is part of a professional path, constituting an experience or even a step.

Artists and curators in residence at the Cité internationale des arts will be able to organise their working time according to the needs of the research they wish to carry out.
This programme aims to respond to the varied socio-professional realities of artists and curators, by offering mobility from Chile to Paris within an international centre for research and creation, and by making time for reflection, research and encounters with the local artistic scene compatible.

After the closing of the call for applications and a thorough examination of the received applications, in accordance with the specified eligibility and selection criteria, two candidates will be selected by an international jury to each undertake a three-month residency, from Monday, November 03, 2025, to Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the Marais site of the Cité internationale des arts.
