Andes~Sena

Presentation

For the fourth consecutive year, the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage of Chile, the Institut Français of Chile, and the Cité internationale des arts in Paris are launching a call for the residency programme Andes~Sena, aimed at artists and curators working and residing in Chile, to promote and facilitate their international mobility, as well as to expand their professional network.

Art that connects us: everyday artistic practices and forms of coexistence

In a context shaped by profound social, urban and cultural transformations, this theme invites reflection on creation as a practice rooted in everyday gestures, sensory experiences and shared spaces, thereby fostering social cohesion and collective ways of living together.

Beyond institutional frameworks and spaces traditionally dedicated to art, artistic practices can open up spaces for encounter, attentiveness, transmission and dialogue between individuals, territories and diverse narratives.

This residency invites artists to explore how art can inhabit everyday life, nurture forms of coexistence, activate collaborative and intercultural dynamics, and create connections between different contexts of life and experience, particularly between Chile and France.

The programme encourages research and creative approaches that attend to human relationships, uses, memories, forms of hospitality, civic dialogue, and the ways in which artistic practices can help imagine and share common spaces.

As part of this program, two three-month residencies are offered at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris:

  • A research-creation residency for artists
  • A residency for curators

This programme aims to respond to the varied socio-professional realities of artists and curators, by offering mobility from Chile to Paris within an international centre for research and creation, and by making time for reflection, research and encounters with the local artistic scene compatible.

The residency

The Cité internationale des arts is an artist residency located in the heart of Paris, bringing together artists and researchers and enabling them to carry out a creation or research project in all disciplines, without any production obligation.

The objective of the residency program is to facilitate mobility and support the research and expansion of the professional network of artists and curators rooted in the Chilean scene, by allowing them to benefit from privileged support, professional networking, and a three-month residency in Cité internationale des arts in Paris (Marais site), accompanied by financial support.

The program includes:

  • Professional support and networking with the community of 325 artists in residence, of all nationalities, disciplines, and generations, as well as with external professionals, according to the residency projects.
  • The opportunity to showcase the work developed during the residency at the open studio events of the Cité internationale des arts, which are attended weekly by professionals, artists, residents, and the general public.
  • The provision of a living and working space at the Cité internationale des arts.
  • A living stipend of 950,000 Chilean pesos gross per month.
  • A research/production grant of 950,000 Chilean pesos gross for the entire stay.
  • Coverage of round-trip transportation between Chile and the Cité internationale des arts in Paris, as well as travel insurance costs.
  • French language courses before and during the residency (a cost of 44,000 Chilean pesos for the purchase of educational materials remains the responsibility of the selected artists).
