Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Andree Weschler

Andrée Weschler is a French visual and performance artist who has lived in Asia since 1995. She studied at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore. Her practice, formed there, builds a dialogue between European heritage and Asian experience, blending influences and perspectives. She investigates the relation between body and space, where physical presence negotiates architecture and social constructs. Her performances are minimalist and her work reads as an intimate diary—a multi-chapter notebook of readings, memories, traumas, joys, and obsessions. The body is both tool and voice, canvas and brush, aiming for experiences over objects, between fullness and emptiness, memory and disappearance.
