Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Visual arts

Lejla Dendić (*1997) is a visual artist and researcher investigating visual politics, subjectivity, and resistance. Her multidisciplinary, research-led practice challenges structural power dynamics and disrupts dominant narratives. Treating art as a counter-hegemonic force, she creates spaces for shared knowledge, critical reflection, and transformative social change. Through her work, Dendić constructs a sanctuary from contemporary sensory bombardment, inviting profound self-examination to interrogate themes of conflict, power, and belief while fostering agency for an equitable future.
