Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Originally from the Austral Islands, in French Polynesia, the simplicity of his childhood coupled with his imagination favors the emergence of his artistic fiber. Vashee grew up surrounded by the music of the 80’s and cartoon heroes. This environment will influence the compulsive drawer that he was and push him to become an illustrator. In 2009, he illustrates several tales and legends of youth editions, where his childhood heroes come to life through the mythical heroes of Polynesian heritage.

Now confirmed in his artistic path, Vashee dares and develops his practices, notably through his training at the Centre des métiers d’arts. These experiences will allow him to develop and participate in committed projects. He is involved in an ecological and spiritual approach, mainly through upcycling.

He organizes his first individual exhibition in a gallery in May 2022.
