Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Visual arts

Juliana Dorso, a transdisciplinary artist in motion, draws inspiration from places, encounters, and readings to create a living memory of shared emotions. Juliana’s van Alain.e has become essential to Juliana’s approach.

In 2021, following a visit to Villa E-1027 and the Camping Units in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, Juliana developed the idea of Queer Tuning, explored in Poisson-Poulet. Juliana’s research focuses on Queer Tuning with the creation of Alain.e, a mobile work that accompanied Juliana throughout Italy. During Juliana’s residency in Cap-Martin, with the support of the Eileen Gray – Etoile de Mer – Le Corbusier association, Juliana Dorso created a new eponymous graphic work: Alain.e.

In 2023, F.R.A.C. Nouvelle Aquitaine, FRAC La Méca acquired Juliana’s Dream My Ride series. Juliana received the A.D.A.G.P. Fanzine Grant for Here, at the Queer Garage, we repair all sorrows.

In 2024, Juliana Dorso creates a commemorative portrait for the centenary of Facteur Cheval’s death, commissioned by Frédéric Legros, director of the Palais Idéal.

From 2024 to 2025, Juliana’s project Thelma and Louise in Queer Tuning (working title) will be in residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris.

Literature

Anna Dot’s projects focus on translation and communication processes, paying special attention to the processes of reading and writing as well as digital technologies.

She often uses tools that explore texts as if it was a cumulative technology. Her practice is not restricted to one technique or material. Instead, it adapts to the conceptual particularities of the process, which is usually motivated by an initial question that she attempts to explore by means of the artistic practice.
