Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Visual arts

Born in Geneva, Saskia Edens is a graduate of HEAD. Since 2007, she has taken part in numerous performance festivals across Europe, the US, Mexico and Asia. She also creates commissioned public artworks, such as the Magma project in Basel and Mondlicht on the Irchel campus in Zurich. Various residencies have taken her to Spitsbergen, Ladakh, Korea, Kazakhstan and Mas d’Azil. Her artistic practice is transdisciplinary, combining video, painting, molten metal and performance. Through experimental processes and direct interaction with the elements, she explores the essence of life and fosters a deep connection with nature: cycles set the rhythm, heat brings about metamorphoses, breath intensifies energy, and intention provides direction.
