Artists in residence
Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.
Carlos Fernández

Carlos Fer is a Spanish visual artist and PhD researcher at the dx5 group at the University of Vigo, where he investigates contemporary painting through its material, spatial and narrative transformations. His work reflects on precariousness, memory, and the relationship between the body, gravity and support structures. Combining painting, installation and video, he experiments with soft materials, domestic objects and 3D scans. He has developed projects and residencies in Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Luxemburg and Cuba. His recent solo and group exhibitions focus on the unstable limits between surface, image and space, addressing the soft qualities and shifting boundaries of painting. His work has been awarded by public and private institutions, and is part of various collections.
