Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Visual arts

Mohssin Harraki develops a body of work at the frontier of the image and the apparatus, drawing his sources from the Ancients as well as from the most contemporary debates on education, history, politics and more specifically within the Arab world. The artist questions both cultural construction and the mechanisms of the constitution of memory and collective imaginary. He is interested in topics such as genealogy, the transmission of power and education. He is represented by the Imane Farès Gallery (Paris).

For his residency project Image interdite/image manquante at the Cité internationale des arts, the artist questions the ban on images and the degree of deprivation that it produces, while evoking the way in which archives are produced and his relationship to History in the Moroccan context and in that of Arab countries in general.
