Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Jules Kalla eyango

Cinema

Born on 5 April 1990 in Yaoundé, Jules Kalla Eyango is an author, producer and director of animated films. With a Higher Technical Diploma in Animation, he has undertaken several film and television projects in Cameroon. In 2019, he created Mboa Matanda, an animated film project produced by the Abyl animation studio, in co-production with Rozifilms in Madagascar and Tara in Cameroon, which will be released in May 2023. Thanks to the admission of this 17-minute short film to the Short Film Corner, he was invited to the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. In the wake of this, he was also invited to the Annecy Festival in June (France). In September 2023, he travelled to the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada, where the film had the honour of being officially selected and premiering worldwide. Jules Kalla Eyango also produced and directed Draw Actu, a television programme based on graphic arts, broadcast on social media.

In addition, in 2021, he produced two animated short films: La vie en prose (9 minutes) and Run dead (3 minutes). In 2024, he made a new short film entitled Noel au Continent (6 minutes).
