Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Mya Mounia Lazali is an Algerian artist, designer, and emerging curator based in Algiers. Her work is featured in several prestigious collections, including those of the Barjeel Art Foundation, the European Union, the United Nations, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Algiers. As the curator of the first edition of the Contemporary Art Fair organized by the European Union Delegation in Algiers, she actively contributes to the development of the local art scene. Her efforts aim to facilitate the circulation of works by young Algerian talents and to promote exchanges with artists from around the world. Committed to ecological and ethical causes, she advocates for animal welfare and raises awareness of issues related to speciesism. Her works have been exhibited in various cities, including Beijing, Paris, Bamako, Dakar, Marrakech, and Algiers. In 2018, her series We Will Not Go Back, shown at the Museum of Modern Art in Algiers and the Takako Richard Gallery in Paris, offered a sensitive perspective on the reality of populations in exile.
