Artists in residence

Each year, the Cité internationale des arts welcomes more than 1,000 artists from around the world, offering them a space for creation, research, and exchange in Paris, in the Marais and Montmartre districts. Open to all artistic disciplines—visual arts, music, literature, film, design and architecture, performing arts, and curating—it enables artists to develop their projects in an environment that fosters experimentation and meaningful connections.

Cinema

Juruna Malon is a film director and sound designer. He was born in Brazil and lived for several years in France, where he studied cinema and visual anthropology. He makes hybrid films, somewhere between documentary and fiction, creating his dramaturgy from the memories and experiences of the people living in the areas he researches.

In recent years, he has focused his cinematic research on the nerve centres and points of tension in a territory where the great modern constructions of the capitalist world represent a form of historical erasure and the suffocation of other conceptions of the world.

His films have been screened at festivals and art centres such as the Centre Pompidou, Cinéma du réel, Visions du Réel, the Berlinale, La Gaîté Lyrique, Forum des Images, Mar del Plata and others. His latest film, “The Intrusion“, had its world premiere at the Berlinale 2023. He is currently developing the documentary “L’estuaire”, which won the SCAM “Brouillon d’un rêve” grant.
